Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char & Grayling Fishing Rainbow trout, Arctic Char ( Dolly Varden ) and Grayling are very plentiful in the Naknek River and its tributaries. Fly fishing for native & wild trout may not get any better.
Fall time is the favorite time to catch these beautiful fish but they are available all summer. Most commonly used flies are salmon flesh, eggs, sculpins & leeches. These Rainbow Trout average over 20” inches and many Rainbows over 30” inches.
Salmon Fishing: Chinook
Chinook salmon, also known as the king salmon is the monster salmon of the Naknek River. The Naknek is famous for consistently producing the large king salmon runs. We fish both the Naknek and the Nushagak River (fly-out) for King Salmon. Methods for catching king salmon on the Naknek River are casting spinners, fly fishing or trolling plugs.
Our fly out trips provide opportunities for casting spinners or catching king salmon drifting bait on the Nushagak River. Naknek River king salmon average over 25 lbs with fish to 65 lbs..
